United could not find the back of the net despite dominating their match against newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC.

The Chippa United – Stellenbosch FC match was the only one that failed to register any goals on the opening day of the new Absa Premiership season.

But despite this, both coaches were happy after the match.

Nine goals were scored countrywide on the opening day.

In Port Elizabeth, United could not find the back of the net despite dominating their match against newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC.

Chippa United coach, Clinton Larsen says he is happy with the performance after six weeks of preparations. “One question had to be answered – Are we ready for this season? I think it’s a resounding yes! If you look at the dominant performance in both halves that BIF question has been answered. We wanna be competitive; we don’t wanna be pushovers in this league.”

Stellenbosch FC coach, Steve Barker, says although they were lucky, he is happy with the result.

“Yeah it was a big wake up call for us but one has to look at the players and the commitment they showed, the attitude and the fight not to lose. We will be a team that’s hard to beat, there is no doubt, but there is another area we need to work on.
