The Port Elizabeth based PSL team, Chippa United, has big plans for next season and active in the transfer market.

The club’s ambitious Chairperson, Chippa Mpengesi, is eyeing a spot in either the CAF Champions League in the next season.

The success of Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates in continental competitions is the inspiration behind the plans.

But there’s still a lot of football to be played.

The Chilli Boyz are currently eighth on the log, not too far away from a Confederation Cup spot.

And with Teboho Moloi in charge, Mpengesi believes that is achievable.

Chippa United Chairperson Chippa Mpengesi says:”Our mission is to go to Africa by being number four or winning the Nedbank, any of those two, we don’t want to see ourselves in a situation where we are fighting for relegation like last season.”

The club signed four new players. One of them is Thabo Rakhale from Orlando Pirates. He has now re-united with his former coach, Teboho Moloi.

“It’s a great feeling, he is one of the coaches who made me to enjoy my football, and for being here with the team that plays entertaining football. I find it quite easy that I am doing well.”

An unbeaten run of ten matches was offset by losses in their last two games.

Their next game on Sunday is also a tough encounter against Amazulu away from home.
