Chippa United part ways with Dan Malesela following 5-1 thumping

Dan Malesela joined Chippa United in December 2020 in a deal that was set to expire at the end of the current season, with an option to renew.

Chippa United have parted ways with head coach Dan Malesela. Malesela was sacked a day after Chippa were thumped 5-1 by fellow relegation candidates Maritzburg United in the DSTV Premiership at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday night.

They are currently third from the bottom with just three wins so far this season.

Malesela joined Chippa in December 2020 in a deal that was set to expire at the end of the current season, with an option to renew.

Chippa United FC appoint Dan Malisela as new head coach:

The 55-year-old joined Chippa after he was sacked by TS Galaxy. This was Malesela’s fourth stint at Chippa since first joining them in the 2015/2016 season.

In his first season, Malesela guided the club to finish sixth on the log and also reached the semi-finals of the MTN-8 a few months later.

Against Matritzburg last night, Chippa scored first but ended up losing the match 5-1.
