The Chinese Ambassador is expected to update the South African public in Cape Town on Friday regarding efforts to combat the coronavirus.
Ambassador Lin Songtian will also outline the progress made in China to fight the virus.
The number of people confirmed to have the coronavirus in Hubei province yesterday skyrocketed to more than 48 000 cases.
This has taken the national figure of confirmed cases in China to nearly 65 000 and the death toll to over 1 400.
The ambassador will also outline how China and South Africa have so far collaborated to prevent the virus from entering South Africa.
