China relationship with Africa has no conditions: Xi

President Cyril Ramaphosa speaking at the Forum
Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has managed to dispel the notion that the world’s second biggest economy is on a drive to recolonize Africa. President Ramaphosa was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Forum being held in Beijing.

Chinese president, Xi JinPing pledged more cooperation and committed 60-billion dollars to help Africa achieve its development objectives.

The coming together of more than fifty African leaders on Chinese soil is in its third year; and was held in South Africa in 2015. The Forum was founded in 2000 and it’s already producing significant results. Major infrastructure development by China in Africa bears testimony to this.

China says its working together with African countries has no conditions. It’s pledged another 60-billion dollars to help fund various projects on the continent.

South Africa will hand over the co-chairing of the Forum to Senegal.
