Chippa United beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday to make sure that top-flight football will continue to be played in the Eastern Cape city next season.

Hardworking striker Rhulani Manzini scored the all-important goal, which gave the Chilli Boyz maximum points in front of 18 342 people at the Port Elizabeth venue.

The win left Chilli Boyz coach Clinton Larsen a relieved man as he insisted that remaining in top-flight football is a job well done.

Even though Larsen does not like singling out players after a win he has commended players like William Twala, Kurt Lentjies, Zitha Macheke and Gladwin Shitolo, who he says showed their fighting spirit throughout Saturday’s match.

Meanwhile, the former Orlando Pirates and Manning Rangers midfielder has added that he’s happy for the players and everybody at the Chilli Boyz following the club’s poor start to the season.

The Chilli Boyz finished the season in 12th position with 30 points from 30 matches.
