Chelsea, Man City supporter groups call on UEFA to move UCL final

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Representatives of Manchester City and Chelsea supporter groups have called on the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to switch the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final from Istanbul.

The showpiece event is due to take place at the Attaturk Stadium at the end of May, but Turkey is on the UK’s red list for travel.

It means anyone attending the final – including players – would have to quarantine in a government hotel for 10 days on their return to the UK.

Both Kevin Parker, of Manchester City’s Official Supporters Group, and Daniel Silver, of Chelsea’s Supporters’ Trust, told Reuters TV on Monday that Uefa should make the switch.

It has been reported that Uefa will make a decision in the next couple of days, with Wembley an obvious choice, but Portugal also in the running.
