Reading Time: < 1 minute

The fire at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg has not yet been  extinguished.

The Johannesburg Emergency Services officials say the fire is being managed to prevent it from spreading from the special dispensary stores to other parts of the health facility.

Despite this, they say the structure of the building has been compromised.

Meanwhile, smoke and flames can still be seen as firefighters continue to fight the fire that broke out on Friday.

Three firefighters, who suffered exhaustion, have since recovered while the Department of Health has moved some patients to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the fire is still unknown as investigations continue.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has also arrive to assess the situation.
