The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the Public Protector’s office has resigned. Vussy Mahlangu’s last day was New Year’s Eve.

According to a tweet from the Public Protector’s office, he left to pursue other opportunities.

The Public Protector has wished him well, thanking him leading the turnaround that saw the Auditor General praising the Chapter 9 institution for improved financial management.

Mahlangu had been at the institution for 16 months.

The Public Protector’s office has rejected claims that he resigned after a fallout with Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
