Police Minister Bheki Cele is on Wednesday expected to visit the relatives of six family members who were killed at their home in Eshowe on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast at the weekend.
It is alleged that the attacker forced his way into the house and shot the victims – the youngest of whom was just eight-years-old.
A 36-year-old relative was arrested in Greytown.
Cele is also expected to visit the family of two police officers who were killed in an ambush at Taylors Halt at the weekend.
Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon Police Minister Bheki Cele released the country’s crime statistics.
According to the latest figure, a 6.6% increase in murder was recorded during the third quarter of the 2020/21 financial year in in the country.
