Police Minister Bheki Cele and Justice Minister Ronald Lamola are attending the bail application of two farmers accused of assaulting their security officer employee at the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court.

Piet Groenewald and his 27-year-old stepson, Stephen Greef, allegedly assaulted 27-year-old Veneruru Kavari and injected him with an unknown substance. They also unleashed their dogs on him.

They each face a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Cele and Lamola were met by a crowd of African National Congress (ANC) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters outside court.

The ministers are expected to address the crowd after the court proceedings.
