Reading Time: 2 minutes

Police Minister Bheki Cele along with Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will on Tuesday morning brief the country on the adjusted Level 3 regulations that pertain to their respective portfolios.

On Monday night, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the country will move to Alert Level 3 with some changes to the regulations.

This amid a second wave of COVID-19 infections, exacerbated by a new more infectious variant of the virus.

In the video below, President Ramaphosa addresses the nation:

The Level 3 restrictions will remain in force until January 15, 2021 – when they will be reviewed.

They include a prohibition of indoor and outdoor meetings and the curfew being extended from 9pm to 6am.

Beaches, dams, lakes, parks and swimming pools in all hotspot areas will be closed.

However, National Parks where control measures are in place can remain open.

The President also re-imposed the ban on the sale of alcohol.

Non-essential businesses such as restaurants will now have to close at 8pm and anyone not wearing a mask in a public place will be liable for a fine or imprisonment.
