Former AmaZulu FC coach, Cavin Johnson has been appointed as the new head coach of Limpopo Premier Soccer League (PSL)  side Black Leopards FC.

Johnson replaces Luc Eymael who resigned as head coach of the Thohoyandou based club on Friday.

Johnson arrived at the club’s training session in Ladanna, Polokwane, on Sunday. He says he is delighted to work in Limpopo for the first time.

“It’s a pleasure to be here. I think the team has got a good history, a good group of players. It’s not about why Leopards, it’s about understanding football and hopefully, I can add value to the Limpopo province. I have never worked in the province before, it’s a nice challenge. If I can turn it around and hopefully the gods of football are on my side, then we will do that.”

Leopards’ team Manager, Ally Nobela says they could not divulge details on the contract between the club and Johnson for now.

“He will be here for a long time. It’s just the issue of signing documents now and we are going to come back to you and tell how long we are going to be with him. When you hire a coach, you need good results and then you need to be in a good position. Our target is to be in the top eight,” says Nobela.
