The case against 28 year old man facing charges of attempted murder, theft and defeating the ends of justice, in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s court, east of Pretoria has been postponed to next week Friday.

The postponement is to allow the state to source an interpreter who speaks Maputo-Xitsonga language.

The state alleges that the man and five other suspects attacked and assaulted Waldy and Cynthia Van Zyl before making off with the couple’s cellphones and other valuables.

This case has attracted attention as farm attacks and murders incidents are reported every now and then in the country.

It emerged that the accused was arrested for possession of stolen goods, His lawyer Steve Sekwele argues that is the only charge his client should face.

The state says it will be opposing bail.
