Reading Time: 2 minutes

The case against Former Transnet board member and Gupta family business associate, Iqbal Sharma as well as the former department of agriculture Head of Department Peter Thabethe, former department Chief Financial Officer Seipati Dhlamini and Limakatso Moorosi, who is also a former head of department, has been postponed in the Bloemfontein Regional court.

The accused are facing charges relating to R24.9 million paid by the Free State Department of Agriculture for a feasibility study on potential farming projects in the province.

The case has been postponed to allow Moorosi to request the Department of Agriculture to cover her legal costs and for the finalisation of the indictment.

“The matter is then postponed by agreement until the date – the 8th October,” said  Magistrate Smanga Nteshe.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Investigating Directorate says two more suspects will be added to the 17 accused in the R24.9 Million fraud and corruption case.

“We have also taken the decision to separate or remove the persons who are not currently in the country in order to continue with those who are currently in the country,” says NPA Investigation Directorate Spokesperson, Sindisiwe Seboka.

Seboka says  their non-attendance will not delay the  trial of those who are currently in the country.
