The Cape Street Parade, formerly known as Tweede Nuwe Jaar, has not disappointed. This year once again saw young and old setting up camp early to ensure they secure the perfect seat.
The sounds of tambourines and trumpets echoed through the streets of the Cape Town CBD.
It’s one of the most anticipated events on the city’s calendar and it’s done in remembrance of the slaves who celebrated their only day off in the year.
Minstrel’s troupes were clad in colourful costumes and painted faces. Spectators say it’s a day they cannot miss.
