Cape Town readies for Two Oceans Marathon

Close to 40 000 participants are expected to take part in the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town this weekend. The race will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Africa’s biggest running event and South Africa’s most prestigious race covers 56 kilometres and takes place every year on Easter Saturday.

The Cape Town International Convention Centre has been a hive of activity as runners visited the expo to collect their race numbers. Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato welcomed has welcomed the runners in the city.

“I want to welcome all the Two Oceans participants and the organisers. It is a very important race. I know it is tens of thousands of runners and participants that will take to the road in Cape Town on Sunday. My message to all of you is, welcome to Cape Town. Enjoy Cape Town, enjoy our scenery. Enjoy the race, make the most of it.”
