Long queues have formed at some public swimming pools in Cape Town as temperatures are expected to hit around the mid-thirties on Thursday.
Forecasters say temperatures will be cooler on Friday. Many people are also expected to flock to the city’s beaches to cool off.
With most swimming pools closed due to the drought, residents are also forced to share about twelve public pools.
Temperatures are expected to hit around the 32 degree mark this Thursday afternoon. Hundreds of people have been queuing at the public pool in Sea Point since Thursday morning.
The City of Cape Town says its staff will maintain high visibility in public areas until schools reopen.
The weather office says ideal weather is expected at the weekend.
