Reading Time: < 1 minute

Cape Town City narrowly edged log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 to clinch second spot on the log table.

This encounter was played at Loftus Stadium in Tshwane on Tuesday evening. The solitary strike on the 27th minute of the match from Nana Akosah-Bempa was enough to see Benni McCarthy’s charges collecting maximum points.

The Citizen’s triumph has eased pressure on the club coach McCarthy. However, Minwanwa Phezulu’s defeat did not make much impact to them as they still seating comfortable on the top of the log table.

Pitso Mosimane men have managed to collect 28 points from 14 matches, while City have collected 24 points in 15 matches to remain the second.

On Wednesday there will be only one last league match in 2017 between CAF Confederations runners up SuperSport United up against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium. Amatsatsatsa a Pitori and Siwelele Sa Masele will look to revive following their 2-1 and 4-1 defeat to Baroka FC and Sundowns over the past weekend.

United are currently at the 11th place with only 15 points while Celtic are at the 9th position with 19 points.
