Blitz Coach Ashwell Prince says it is important to start on a good note with their first home game, as they take on the team they beat in the opening game of this year’s tournament last week.

After their defeat to the Paarl Rocks on Sunday, the Cape Town Blitz will be looking to bounce back against the Jozi Stars, when the two Mzansi Super League franchises meet at the Newlands Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Blitz coach Ashwell Prince says it is important to start on a good note with their first home game, as they take on the team they beat in the opening game of this year’s tournament last week.

But Prince knows that playing at Newlands will be a lot different to playing at altitude at the Wanderers.

Prince says the loss to the Rocks was disappointing but their opponents adapted better to the conditions.

It has also been a poor start for last year’s champions, the Jozi Stars, who have lost both their opening fixtures, and Prince says the pressure could be building on them already.

But the former Proteas batsman knows that the Stars have dangerous players like Chris Gayle, Reeza Hendricks and Rassie Van Der Dussen.

Meanwhile there have also been changes at the Blitz, with Pakistani pair Wahab Riaz and Asif Ali joining the team, while Moeen Ali has departed. – Report by Rob Delport
