Despite high expectations, the Angolan national team has failed to go beyond the quarterfinals stages of the African Nations Cup in the four occasions they have featured in the tournament.
They, however, boast some highly-regarded players in the likes of Manucho Gonzalez, who plays for Real Valladolid in the competitive Spanish league and Gilberto who was part of the Al Ahly club that qualified for the Fifa Club World Cup twice in succession – the only team to achieve that in the world.
They will be hoping to break that quarterfinal hoodoo in 2013.
