Calm has been restored to Protea Glen in Soweto where residents were protesting on Tuesday.
The residents of the tornado-hit area barricaded roads including the R559 towards Randfontein in the west of Johannesburg.
Government’s apparent slow response to assist those affected by the tornado which destroyed many homes, is believed to have sparked the protest.
Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says, “Today it is clear the motorists are moving, but we will continue monitoring the situation of the area in Protea Glen ext. 16 where there was a protest on Tuesday.”
