Cabinet supports interventions by SADC in Zimbabwe

The summit of troika plus SADC chairperson is hosted by Angola president Joao Laurenco who is the chairperson of regional organ on politics, defence and security.

Cabinet has expressed its support for the intervention done by President Jacob Zuma in his capacity as the chair of SADC in response to the Zimbabwe situation.

President Zuma has sent a special envoy, Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and State Security Minister Adv Bongani Bongo to meet President Robert Mugabe.

Communications Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane says, “They are to meet with President Robert Mugabe and the Zimbabwean Defence Force. Thereafter proceed to brief President Joao Laurenco as the chairperson of the SADC Organisation Political Defence and Security Further updates on this matter will be communicated by the Presidency.”
