The festival has grown from humble beginnings in 2009.

The Buyel’Ekhaya Music Festival has grown in leaps and bounds this past decade. Thousands of music lovers again made their way to the annual festival in East London.

The line-up included internationally acclaimed artists such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Jonas Gwangwa.

The festival has grown from humble beginnings in 2009 with just over 4000 patrons to the over 30 000 who came though the gates this past weekend.

The festival has become a big tourism draw card.

Artists too are excited that they’ve made it onto the festival line-up. The provincial government continues to support the event.

Since the inception of the festival, it has contributed to the growth of emerging artists.
