Business for restaurants and florists around Johannesburg is booming as people celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Most restaurants are fully booked as couples have already reserved their tables.. For many it’s a time to celebrate romance and exchange the three most popular gifts – chocolates, flowers and cards.
Some of those who spoke to SABC News plan to celebrate in luxury, while others will keep things more low key:
“I was wearing my boyfriend’s blazer only to find out that he bought us flight tickets to the Seychelles. I am so super excited, but I haven’t told him that I know. I will just have to act surprised.”
“We’re going to have a candlelight dinner at his place. He says because we can’t go out on holiday now.”
“I’m not quite too sure cause it’s out of our budget, but we gonna go out to the restaurant.”
