Bus crash victims to be laid to rest on Saturday

Five ANC members who died in a bus crash on their way to the party’s 112th anniversary celebrations in Mbombela, Mpumalanga will be buried today in a mass funeral in Botlokwa outside Polokwane in Limpopo.

Mashao Setabola, Mosima Makganyoga, Mapula Rakubu, Magret Rakubu and Manti Mafomo were killed when the bus they were travelling in lost control and overturned.

The crash happened on the R71 in Makgobakloof outside Tzaneen last Saturday.

The Limpopo ANC spokesperson, Jimmy Machaka says several party leaders, including the Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula will attend the mass funeral.

“The African National Congress in Limpopo province can confirm that indeed the Secretary-General of ANC comrade Fikile Mbalula will come and deliver the address on behalf of the ANC National Executive Committee at the funeral of Molemole five which will take place at least eleven sports ground in Botlokwa.”

Meanwhile, ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed the party’s support ahead of the funeral.

“I expected that their funeral will be dignified and will signify our total support. I was saying to the leadership that their funeral must be dignified and must be befitting of the members of the African National Congress,” Ramaphosa added.
