Burkina Faso, Nigeria share spoils at Afcon

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Burkina Faso scored a last minute equaliser to snatch a one-all draw against Nigeria in their Group C Africa Cup of Nations match in Nelspruit last night. Group C is still wide open with all four teams on one point. Nigeria is busy with a re-building phase and their coach Stephen Keshi has been given a five year plan to change their fortunes. Keshi says: “This is the fourth game we are playing together as a team or as collective players because we are building.” Nigeriaare determined to deliver after they failed to qualify for the previous edition of Afcon. The team showed glimpses of a team ready to transform as they dictated matters in the first half. It was not surprising when Emmanuel Emmenike bravely made the first touch to put his side ahead. It was sheer lack of experience that saw Burkina Faso claw their way back. Efe Ambrosse received a red card that weakened Nigeria’s defence. Burkina Faso capitalised and scored in the last minute of the match to earn a one-all draw against their more fancied opponents.
