South African legendary boxing promoter Mzimasi Mnguni has passed away. Mnguni was a well-known businessman and boxing promoter from Mdantsane township in the Eastern Cape.
His brother Sihle Mnguni has confirmed his passing away, saying he had poor health as he suffered several strokes over the years.
His career as a trainer saw him produce champions such as Welcome “The Hawk” Ncita‚ Vuyani “The Beast” Bungu‚ Mbulelo “Slayer” Botile‚ Masibulele “Hawk” Makepula and Zolani “Tiger” Petelo.
He also received Achievement Awards from the Sports Ministry in 2016 and in 2017.
Mnguni produced more than 10 world boxing greats from 1990‚ who were mainly IBF Titleholders.
