Botswana’s newly adjusted COVID-19 isolation period will come into effect from Wednesday. This comes as the country’s Health Ministry reduces the isolation period for COVID-19 positive people to a minimum of five days.

Isolation periods for people who are fully, partially or not vaccinated will vary between five and ten days.

Fully vaccinated people in Botswana who test positive for COVID-19 will self-isolate for five days if they are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

Those who are partially or not vaccinated, but still asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, will self-isolate for seven days.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 and have moderate to severe symptoms whether fully vaccinated or not – will be required to isolate for a minimum of ten days.

However, health care workers may extend the isolation period if necessary.
