I wish politicians from around the world could take a leaf out of Mandela’s fight for a world of equality and freedom for all. We saw the world’s leaders pay platitudes to Mandela, yet when they return home they continue to implement policies that promote inequality. Payne Mthimkhulu. London, UK.

For many, many years I wore a small ANC badge everywhere I went. Like many in the UK I played a small part in the freedom struggle. Mandela’s release was a profound individual as well as global joy. A real democracy revolution in which one man’s leadership led the way and avoided much bloodshed. Nelson was the one politician I longed to meet in the flesh and I will always regret not just taking time off work to see him, just once in real life when he visited London. This is because like so many I felt here was a man of goodness, someone who wanted me as much as the other man to be strong and make a difference. THank you dear Madiba for making me think again what my life is all about in order to honour yours. Thank-you. Stuart Woodin. England.

“It was a great honor to have lived in era where Tata Nelson Mandela lived in. You have inspired your nation and many nations across the world. Your heart is a heart of a man who fears the Lord and to the Mandela family we say Madiba’s depart is a journey he had to take as part f his destiny. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela we love and you will always hold a special place in our hearts and to generations to come.” Lesedi Letamo. Botswana.

Madiba taught me that to forgive is the true meaning of freedom. He taught me selflessness, wish tyrants in the world and in Africa in particular could emulate him….why someone would want to rule a country forever defies what Madiba taught us!!! My deepest condolences go to the Mandela family, the people of South Africa, Africa and the world. Banli, China.

“Rest in peace Madiba ,the Father of Africa, world’s greatest unifier! We will love and live your legacy forever! Thank God for his time and gifts.” Anthony. Seoul, South Korea

I was young when I met Mandela in 1994 @St Bids College (Umthatha). As I look at the photograph we took with him, it reflects his passion for kids. Hi my name is Thokozile Cebekulu. I wrote this poem in 2011 regarding Madiba’s journey. Everyone is wondering. We all were brought into this world for a purpose or should I say for a task to complete. Yes sometimes it doesn’t make sense, because not most of us are aware or take time to listen to the inner self or seek guidance from God. When all of us faces our fears, gets to a challenge or a situation we always wish that were YOUNG and forgetting that even then we were guided by our almighty GOD and our ANCESTORS( angels), and then we all wonder how we have made it through the days of our lives you can think that you are in charge of your life, but forgetting that at the end, the only spirit that is in charge of your life is GOD. Lala ngoxolo, uyidlalile indima yakho. Thoko Cebekulu

Dear MADIBA, This is truly a time of mourning for all South Africans, no matter what background one is from. We Trust that You will forever Rest in Peace, the same way You have given Peace to all who’s lives You have touched…!We Salute You and Thank You for the Legacy You have left behind, I Pray that all South Africans will build on it…!In Loving Memory and a Tribute from Nairobi, Kenya…!!!Yours Faithfully, – Stephan Jacobs and Family.(Pretoria, Gauteng)

Death be not proud, for you have taken only the soul of the hero, not the legacy. Death a like a short sleep, when everyone is dead, who will you take. It will be the death of death. Rest in peace our hero. Lala ngokuthula Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.- Gija & Charmain Mthombeni Mpumalanga

When I pause and literally turn and look back into our past history at this momentous juncture of South Africa history, one is just amazed on how TATA has waved a humanness magic till this day that has not only captivate South Africa, but the entire human universe. Now that he is perusing an afterlife I believe all of us here owe ourselves a fraction of wisdom to live and lead our lives like the life of selflessness and dedication to goodness of human spirit TATA has dedicate his whole life to. I too dedicate the remainder of my life to learn, lead and live by principles TATA dedicated his whole life and persona to, even if it could a fraction of it. I don’t know whether to console you “people of South Africa” or console ourselves “the Palestinian people” for the passing away of the godfather of freedom. For us, Tata Madiba will always be more than president Mandela, he was, is and will always be the spirit of freedom for which we “the Palestinian people” strive. The candle that lights our path to freedom, the flag of our freedom, the temple of our fighting spirit from which we seek inspiration and guidance, and the role model icon that we aspire to be and become in the coming of our generations. We “the Palestinian people” maybe lost Tata Madiba physically, but he will forever live in our fighting spirit to freedom, will forever live in every rock and shout we direct towards the enemies of freedom and human equality, the oppressors of nations. Tata Madiba will forever live in the freedom anthems shouted by our children, will forever live in the cries of our women for their lost husbands and children at the hands of the enemies of freedom and human equality. Tata Madiba will forever live in the freedom songs on our tongues and morning freedom songs of the birds of Palestine. Tata Madiba’s soul is not dead. It cannot die …Tata Madiba’s soul lives in every stone and in every cell of flesh in the hands of our children. I can hear his voice even in his death and in his grave calling for freedom and human equality. The leaders and presidents of the world should never mention his name on their tongue because they can never and will never live up to the standards and value of Madiba. We forever will cry your name: Tata Madiba. – Khaled AA Ghannam, Johannesburg
