Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Blue Bulls rugby player accused of raping an 18-year-old girl in the Eastern Cape appeared briefly in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court.

The case has been remanded to the 10 May for further investigation.  He is currently out on R10 000 bail. The accused has not pleaded yet and cannot be named until he has done so.

He was arrested shortly after the alleged rape and was granted bail in February. He has since returned to Gauteng and is expected to appear again on the 10 May.

It is alleged the rape took place in December last year with the rugby player assaulting the girl after a party, next to a road in KwaMagxaki. He is facing two counts of rape and robbery.
