Black teachers at the Waterfall Curro School have spoken out about the alleged racism at the private school in Midrand north of Johannesburg.

The Gauteng department of education says two educators from Curro Waterfall, have been removed from the school pending investigations of racism allegations.

A former teacher says she left Curro in May sighting racism and ill treatment of black teachers.

Another teacher who is still employed there says black and white teachers have separate staff rooms.

“There was an assistant staff room and a teacher’s staff room, which separated us automatically to whites alone and blacks alone. It really made me sad. Most of the time you would find a separate group sitting in a certain staff room and another group sitting in a certain staff room. How do we become unified if we are all sitting in different places. I had to just tidy up, that was my sole purpose. I’m not allowed to communicate with parents. Clean the cup, clean the paint, and wipe the tables.”
