Party abbreviation: BLF

The Black First Land First party (BLF) will contest the 2019 Elections in South Africa as a registered political party for the first time. The party will be contesting both the National and Provincial elections in all nine provinces.

The BLF was founded on 24 October 2015 by Andile Mngxitama, who is listed as the party’s leader for the 2019 elections.

Mngxitama founded the BLF following his expulsion from the EFF in 2015. He accused the EFF of selling out to the ANC. The party has rallied behind the calls against so-called “white minority capital” and supported the #feesmustfall campaigns at universities over the past 3 years.

BLF policies have been labelled as black supremacist. Some of the party’s members have been accused of threatening investigative journalists.
