Biggest budget ever for DA

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) expected income from fundraising for 2012 is projected to be R155 million – the biggest budget the party has ever had.
DA Federal Finance Chair Dion George was briefing delegates at the 5th Federal Congress on the party’s financial standing this morning and described the financial situation as “very healthy”.
George said the past two years has been spent on establishing a culture of fiscal discipline in the party.
The Financial Committee said that going towards 2014, the party would need a lot of money. In the previous election, the DA spent R65 million and merged from the process debt-free, having raised all the funds needed to incur such expenses.
The party’s properties and buildings across the country are valued at R20 million.
The DA ended the 2011/2012 financial year with a surplus of R16 million.
