As Bafana Bafana prepare to face Namibia in a must-win game on Friday at the Afcon finals, former Bafana star Benni McCarthy recalls the infamous game against the Namibians in 1998 where he scored a record four goals in 13 minutes against South Africa’s neighbours.
McCarthy recalls how that life-changing game was also a must-win for Bafana, and he hopes that the current Bafana team can bounce back from their defeat against Cote d’Ivoire on Monday with a good result.
McCarthy can still recall scoring those goals like it was yesterday, but now he hopes that a player like Percy Tau, Lebo Mothiba or Lebogang Maboe can create their own historical moment. – Report by Rob Delport
