A 28-year-old man from Beaufort-West in the Central Karoo has received a life sentence for the brutal murder of his two-year-old son.
Jean Solomons was also sentenced for a range of other violent crimes by the circuit Cape High Court, including the 2016 murder of a man from Atlantis on the West Coast.
In 2020, the accused severely assaulted his child, leading to his death. Further investigations also showed that he also sexually abused the toddler.
In another case, 34-year-old Raymond Kelly was sentenced to 34 years imprisonment in connection with two unrelated murders in Beaufort West in 2015.
Western Cape police authorities have lauded their members and the prosecuting teams for their diligence in securing lengthy incarcerations for both offenders.
