The Volleyball South Africa director Gershon Rorich is excited with another edition of the Volleyball League which is currently taking place in Kempton Park for the next four weeks.

The League kicked off this past weekend and will see nine provincial teams battling for the main prize.

The League started last year in Durban with the Western Cranes from Western Cape winning the championships. The sport is not only played in the beach it can also be played in the inland areas. Rorich explains how they set up the make shift courts across the country.

The sport can be played on the social level as well as nationally and internationally. South Africa sends athletes to the world championships in many age categories every year.

Rorich believes that the sport is growing tremendously in the country. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
