Tshabalala to make announcement soon on his next move

Reading Time: 2 minutes

As Kaizer Chiefs celebrated their 50th anniversary over the past two days, football fans could be forgiven for having thought for a moment that Bafana Bafana legendary player Siphiwe Tshabalala has retired from football.

Tshabalala was part of the Amakhosi legends who attended the big birthday bash in Soweto on Tuesday and was also at the FNB Stadium during the 3-0 demolition of Highlands Park on Wednesday night.

The 35-year-old has been without a team since he returned home mid last year after he left his Turkish club BB Erzurumspor after they were relegated. He’s hoping to make an announcement soon on his next step.

Tshabalala spent a season in Turkey after leaving Chiefs in 2018, it was always his dream to play overseas especially after the 2010 FIFA World Cup where he scored a spectacular opening goal against Mexico. He explains why he couldn’t last in Turkey, and says he’s not been short of offers.

It’s been more than seven months now that Shabba has been without a team and he says he’s almost ready to return, it could be here locally or abroad.

Tshabalala says he’s used this time away from football to focus on his family and his businesses but now feel the timing is right to return to the game.

The last time Chiefs lifted the league title, Tshabalala was one of the star players back in 2015, this also happens to be the last time they touched some silverware.

Having spent 11 years at the club, as they currently lead with 6 points after 17 games played, he believes that the current team is capable of winning this title come end of the season.
