Reading Time: < 1 minute

Registration and accreditation processes are still underway at the Ngwathe Municipal Offices in Parys.

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State is expected to hold its elective conference over the next two days, where a new Chairperson will be elected.

The ANC’s Provincial Elective Conference in the Free State has still not begun, as delegates continue to be camped outside the local municipal offices. It’s understood that the party is still issuing accreditation for delegates attending the ANC’s National Elective Conference, and will only issue accreditation to these local delegates thereafter.

The delegates say they are hoping to elect a new leadership that will lead this province but at the same time unite it.

Current Chairperson Ace Magashule is contesting his position while his Deputy Thabo Manyoni will go up against him. Magashule has been in that position for the past 23 years.

ANC Women’s League regional Chairperson in the Free State Olly Mlamlelli says she is confident that the provincial conference will go ahead with no glitches. Mlamlelli says the women’s league region has nominated Magashule once more to lead the province.
