Limpopo PSL side, Baroka FC has parted ways with head coach, Wedson Nyirenda. Nyirenda tendered his resignation on Monday morning following a string of poor results.

The club has lost 1-0 to Stellensbosch FC over the weekend. The loss left the team hovering in the relegation zone, third from bottom.

Baroka General Manager Richard Mashabane and Nyirenda could not be reached for comment.

‘Bakgakga-ba-Mphahlele’ Assistant Coach, Thoka Matsimela, says he’ll relish taking over the reins if the management gives him the responsibilities.

“It is still difficult for us even for me. If that is the situation of maybe losing someone like Mr Nyirenda – because sometimes it’s painful to lose someone you work with especially the guy like him, very humble unselfish someone – if that is the situation and maybe the management decided to appoint me, I think I can take it because I want to learn. I learnt a lot from that guy.”

Soccer fans at Ga-Mphahlele outside Lebowakgomo in Limpopo have welcomed Nyirenda’s resignation as coach of ‘Bakgakga-ba-Mphahlele’.

“It’s a very good as they released him is a batter because otherwise he will take the team to NFD. I think if they can get another new coach so he can make a team to survive in the PSL. Tthe resignation of the coach was a good decision because the team was not excelling at all. The coach already is not doing well.”
