This match will provide Sundowns with an opportunity to avenge the 2-1 loss they suffered against Barcelona in 2007.

Mamelodi Sundowns‘ President Patrice Motsepe believes Barcelona bringing their best players to South Africa to face his team will offer local players an opportunity to test and measure themselves against the best in the world.

Moreover, he maintains this will inspire young local aspiring footballers to aim higher.

In a repeat of 2007 friendly match, Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona will once again visit South African shores to take on Mamelodi Sundowns.

This will provide Sundowns with an opportunity to avenge the 2-1 loss they suffered against Barcelona in 2007. In that year the Spanish giants brought their strongest squad which included the likes of Ronaldinho of Brazil and four time African player of the Year Samuel Eto’o.
