Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis is optimistic of an improved performance from her charges against Lesotho in the first leg final round qualifier of the African Women’s Cup of Nation on Wednesday.

The two nations’ last encounter was in the Cosafa Women’s Championship in Zimbabwe last year.

Although Banyana Banyana were 3-0 victors in that match, it was an unconvincing performance from the South Africans, who found it difficult to break their opponents.

Ellis believes they can do better.

“We have looked at the footage and when we look back at the footage we played the first couple of minutes and we showed them that this is not the quality that we can show. We cannot do that again because it’s a game of last year we won’t underestimate any opponent and we will be ready.”
