Bafana share spoils with Libya as Nigeria collect maximum points

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Bafana Bafana failed to use home ground advantage, as they drew 0-0 with a lowly-ranked Libya in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Durban on Saturday afternoon.

South Africa could have gone top of Group E had they won the encounter.

Libya are still top of the group with four points, with Bafana Bafana second also with four points.

The North Africans proved to be a stubborn side as they took control of the match from the beginning, creating more scoring opportunities than the homeside.

Meanwhile Nigeria’s Afcon qualifying campaign is back on track after they registered a 3-0 win away to minnows Seychelles in Victoria.

Two early goals in the first half were enough to steer the Super Eagles to victory.

In another Afcon qualifier, Kenya pulled a surprise victory against 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinalists Ghana in Naorobi.
