Bafana Bafana’s preparations are in full swing for the 2015 Afcon tournament which gets underway on Saturday afternoon. Equatorial Guinea has also geared itself to host a successful tournament after the country received a last minute nod following Morocco’s withdrawal over fears of the Ebola virus.
Scepticism has made way for optimism among South Africans ahead of the tournament. After going through the qualifying round unbeaten, the team has continued to impress.
Bafana emphatically beat Mali 3-0 on Wednesday in their last international friendly before the tournament starts.
Bafana Bafana arrived in Equatorial Guinea on Friday and headed straight for Mongomo ahead of their opening match against Algeria on Monday.
Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea is ready to host the event despite concerns to the contrary.
The country stepped in to host the tournament at the last minute, replacing Morocco who were stripped as tournament hosts for asking for a postponement over fears of the spread of the ebola virus.
