South Africa started their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a back foot losing 3-1 to Algeria at the Estadio de Mongomo in Equatorial Guinea.

The defeat was Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba’s first defeat in his second stint as national coach.

Soccer analyst Mninawa Ntloko says Bafana should have won the game in the first half.

However, he has warned that Bafana’s next match will be difficult.

Speaking on Morning Live, Ntloko adds although Bafana lost on Monday night, it’s not all doom and gloom.

Ntloko believes that the players can still redeem themselves on Friday when they play against Senegal.

A number of costly errors left the national team with its first defeat.

Bafana striker, Tokelo Rantie could have made it 2-0 but missed a penalty while defender Thulani Hlatshwayo scored an own-goal.
Striker Thuso Phala scored the opening goal six minutes into the second half.

Bafana’s next match is against Senegal on Friday.
