Bafana must change approach: Singh

Reading Time: 1 minute

Bafana Bafana must change their approach when they take on Angola in a crucial Afcon fixture today if they harbour any chances of collecting maximum points against The Antelopes and improve their chances of advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament. This is according to former Safa Coaching Instructor, Sudesh Singh.

“We must change our approach and play to the strengths of our players and that is keeping possession, passing football … I think that’s where we are strongest.

Singh believes one of Bafana Bafana’s shortcomings in the opening match of the Afcon tournament was lack of leadership in the team.

And that can only come from some of your key quality players like Mphela (Katlego), and May Mahlangu; he’s playing in Europe and that charisma and that extra quality that we need to lift up the team. So, yes, I would say we start with our creative players, skilful players, impose ourselves and dictate matters.”

Meanwhile, Angolan midfielder, Manuel Costa is adamant Angola will collect maximum points against Bafana and go on to make history by being the team Angolan side to advance beyond the quarterfinals later on in the tournament.
