Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced a 24-man squad for next week’s back-to-back 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.

Seven players who were not in the previous squad for the two qualifiers against Ethiopia have been included with Bafana vice-captain Percy Tau also making his return to the squad.

Broos hasn’t made any changes to the goalkeeping department of Bafana Bafana or tampered much with the defence either. It’s in midfield and the striking department where changes have been made with Keegan Dolly and Cape Town City’s Fagray Lakay and Mduduzi Mdantsane included in the team.

Broos has also included the duo of Sphephelo Sithole and Thabang Phete who play for Portugal’s Primera Liga side, Belenenses. Striker and fan favourite, Percy Tau, who scored a brace in his debut for Egyptian giants Ahl Ahly, makes a return after missing the previous qualifiers due to injury.

“We are very happy that he is back I had many contacts with him the last week to ask how he is cause I hoped that he would be ready for the two matches. So it’s good that he scored two goals and he is looking forward to being with the team so I am very happy about that,” says Hugo Broos, Bafana coach.

Bafana Bafana top Group G of the qualifiers and have one more point than second-placed Ghana who they will play in their final qualifier.

“They have to win against us they will be nervous this is a difficult situation they are nervous so let’s win against Zimbabwe and see what happens in their game against Ethiopia,” Broos added.

Bafana Bafana will play Zimbabwe on the 11th of November at the FNB Stadium before travelling to Ghana to play the Black Stars.
