BAfana coach Stuart Baxter

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter says they are bracing themselves for a difficult match when they take on Libya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Durban’s Moses Mabida Stadium on Saturday.

This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in international football.

South Africa has more international football experience than Libya, but Bafana Bafana have always struggled against lowly ranked opposition.

This time they are to face a team that is top of Group E, and full of confidence. Baxter says this is a must win match for his side, to make sure they stay in control of the group from the early stages.

“It’s a massive game in many ways. We have to follow up a good result against Nigeria. It puts us into no significance if we don’t get a good result in this game. Therefore it’s important that we continue taking points because if we can continue to take points it may be done and dusted before the end of the group and so we do want that. We don’t want it to go all the way to the wire. We want to make sure we take control of it and if we take control of this game we go a long way in taking control of the group.”
