Reading Time: < 1 minute

Azapo has mixed reactions to some of the resolutions taken at the African National Congress’s 54th national congress which ended in Johannesburg last week.

The Black Consciousness Movement party says despite adopting a progress resolution on land, the ANC has said nothing about the number of provinces which it says it’s a burden to tax payers. Azapo been calling for the scrapping of provinces in favour of effective and efficient local sphere of government.

Azapo President Strike Thokoana says provinces serve as job creation scheme for some ANC members.

Meanwhile, the South African Council of Churches says it’s disappointed that the new ANC top six leadership only has one woman.

The SACC says this sets a very bad example for gender equality. The council’s Bishop Malusi Mpulwana was reacting to the outcome of the recent ANC elective conference.

He’s however congratulated the newly-elected ANC leadership, led by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
