Mystery surrounds Jacques Pauw’s tax probe

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The author of the book “The President’s Keepers”, Jacques Pauw, says he is in the dark regarding reports that he is being investigated.

This comes after police contacted his legal team requesting that Pauw and another author, Pieter-Louis Myburgh, avail themselves at Durban north police station in KwaZulu-Natal.

Reports suggest that the two are being investigated in relation to tax matters.

However, Pauw says he has no idea what he’s being accused of.

South African Police Services national police spokesperson Vish Naidoo told the SABC in a telephonic conversation that as per rule, police do not comment on whether there is an investigation on an individual or not.

However, the information is that the two were instructed to go to the Durban North police station for questioning and/or taking of statements.

Their lawyers confirm a communication between them and the police has taken place.

However, Naidoo says no case has been opened and that Pauw and Myburgh were not under investigation.
